So many people have complained about how Pro Tools requires you to use an interface with the software. Well, that still is the case, but the Mbox2 Micro makes it a lot less bulky to carry one with you.

Mbox2 Micro

Throw this in your pocket with your iLok key. Take your laptop with Pro Tools LE anywhere. Edit drums on the plane or mix on your roofdeck while looking at the stars. This is smallest interface I’ve seen… so minimal it only has an 1/8 inch jack on it for headphones and a volume wheel. No inputs on this thing. When I get one, I’ll post another update. (It’ll be out mid-November.)

The iLok is probably bigger than the interface.

    Hi Dave

I took your ‘Producing with PT” last year … really good stuff in that course … as for the Micro MBox … I hear it’s going to retail for nearly the price of the MBox Mini .. it should be a lot cheaper … although it will be good to finally use PT on ther laptop for mixing sessions ..

    Hi Dave,

That thing looks awesome! Have to get one, although here in Japan, they are taking pre-orders for them and they are going to retail (here at least) for just under US$300. That’s a little pricey considering that most buyers will probably already have LE etc. But still, definitely a step in the right direction.

    Hello David!
I wanted to say hello and thank you for your help in teaching me more about Pro Tools through BerkleeMusic.com.
I am upgrading to Digi 003 Rack Factory and was wondering if you have any insight you can share about what you’ve heard, read or experienced?
    Thanks a million,
    Sincerely,
    Peace,
    Peter
    P.S How’s your band doing?

I’ve been waiting for Digi to come out with just a box holding up to 3 ADAT i/o’s (no pres). I’d pay $500 for that. That would let me use only my own pres.
BTW just picked up the mac 8-core. I know Digi doesn’t support it yet but gambled anyway. Works great! Errors are a thing of the past… for now.

P.S.I hang my “Producing With Pro Tools” certificate proudly in my studio. Really impresses the clients!

Hey guys… glad to see so many of you here in the blog… I’ll hopefully be posting more good stuff here… check back regularly. All the best to you! :)

I just bought a MBOX2 with new Pro Tool V7.4 & MIC AT3035. I trying to build my little studio with my new Dell PC $1500. I going to make the Voice Solo CD for church. No mixer. The problem now is all the lights on at my MBox, but the Mic doesn’t work. Where do I need to fix? The control panel? Which part? Please advise. Thanks.
